TEDxYouth@MileHigh: A Free Opportunity Focusing on Leadership+Innovation for Youth
TEDxMileHigh’s second youth event (called TEDxYouth@MileHigh) is scheduled for April, 12, 2012, from 1pm-5pm, and is an ideal education and leadership development opportunity for students in grades 6-12.  In a single event, students will be exposed to a dozen big ideas from the state’s most brilliant thinkers and accomplished doers.  The program challenges audience members to think critically about their lives, communities and own leadership and is designed to inspire attendees to be more creative and innovative in their own lives.  Topics include education, science, health, technology, entrepreneurship and sustainability.

With this in mind, the event is an ideal supplement to learning in the classroom.  Students that attend together in groups from the same school will also be able to connect around the ideas presented and the overall experience.  Further, groups will have the opportunity to discuss the ideas presented and collaborate on how they might implement them in their own lives.  Comparable leadership experiences to TEDxMileHigh typically cost hundreds of dollars per participant.

As for the presenters, many of the speakers will be youth from around the state showcasing their ideas in classic TED format. However, we also plan to showcase 2-4 adult speakers in the program that will inspire and activate the attendees with their stories, ideas, and lives.  Your school can nominate one or more students to be considered for these presenting slots.  If you have youth speaker nominations, please email Jeremy Duhon, TEDxMileHigh Curator, at jeremy@tedxmilehigh.com no later than February 28, 2013.  2-3 TED Talks will also be shown as part of the event.
