Our social events provide an opportunity to network with Denver's finest Young Professionals in a relaxed, professional environment. So bring lots of business cards, dress like you do at work, and be prepared to present your business and learn about others. We expect people to leave our events with new business relationships and opportunities. We work with who we are friends with, so get ready to foster some new friendships! There are no membership or age requirements for MHYP socials, everyone is welcome to come see what we are all about.
Starting at our September 2012 social, we will be charging non-members a $10 fee for entry to our event. There is no better time to become a member for only $50 / year!
We also feature food and drink specials and a fish-bowl drawing that includes fantastic giveaways and prizes (must be present to win).
About EarthLinks
EarthLinks is a micro-economic development project where people who are homeless and low-income work in an organic garden and craft workshop, then create and sell Earth-friendly products from what is harvested. Through organic gardening, craft production, day trips into nature, and earning a modest income, participants gain a closer relationship with nature and a caring community that provides support on the road to wholeness.
We hope to raise $1,000 to expand our urban beekeeping program, including the purchase of new suits, hives, hive maintenance tools, and other necessary equipment. With more resources, we can engage more participants from the EarthLinks Workshop Program in the maintenance of our hives and the harvesting of honey and wax for our products. We also plan to initiate a formalized Beekeeper Training certificate program for our participants this season, taught by a local beekeeping mentor and with the hope that our participants will become our community's beekeeping experts and teachers. This empowering experience is beautifully illustrated by one participant who said, "I'm no longer just a homeless person... I'm a beekeeper."
Opportunities to get involved: We're currently seeking new members for our dynamic Board of Directors, as well as members for the following committees: Capital Campaign Committee, Marketing and Sales Committee, Communications Committee, and our new Speakers Bureau.
