The Downtown Denver Partnership invites the public to visit the 16th Street Mall for five Sundays this summer (June 28, July 5, July 19, August 2 and August 9) for Meet in the Street, an event connecting the 16th Street Mall as a shared public space activated through live music, kids’ activities, extended patios and arts and culture. The program is funded by the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District.
The 16th Street Free MallRide service will be detoured onto 15th and 17th Streets via the Free MetroRide busses all day to make room for the activities.
“The 16th Street Mall is not only one of our most vital connecters, it is also one of our most important public spaces,” said Tami Door, Downtown Denver Partnership president and CEO. “Meet in the Street is an opportunity to implement diverse programs and activities to help strengthen the Mall’s vitality and bring the community together for a unique, exciting and community-based experience.”
Programming will take place between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the Mall between Tremont and Lawrence Streets, and will vary each week to include live music, games and spaces to relax and unwind. Restaurants, including Rialto, Willie G’s, Marlowe’s, Paramount Café, Tilted Kilt and Appaloosa are also offering specials or extended patio hours which may occur outside of this time and location.
