By traditional American standards, Dia Draper was enviably successful. After attending the country’s most prestigious high school and an Ivy League University, she graduated in the top of her class from law school. She worked in a top firm, made top dollar, and received reviews with statements such as “we wish we could inject your DNA into everyone here.” But traditional measures of success left Dia unfulfilled and uninspired. Dia realized, with the force of a freight train, that achieving other people's ideals of success will not bring you the happiness that all of us desire.
Always a go-getter, she pursued the ideas of purpose, meaning and contentment with the same gusto she’d applied in her school and work. And of course that’s a ridiculous thing to do! These ideas can’t be knocked over the head, dragged through the door and then used as needed. These are big concepts, accessed through quiet spaces, acceptance and presence. And of course, persistence. Dia noticed profoundly positive shifts in her life as she switched her focus from one area of success into living fully in all aspects of life.
Two years ago, Dia left the practice of law to fully align with her purpose of helping others master the art of fully living, not just working and thriving. She has a life coaching business, focusing on professionals seeking additional meaning in life, and she has a business bringing yoga, mindfulness and stress-reduction onsite for workplaces.
